Southern Rural Water is excited to announce that seven new members have been appointed to Macalister Customer Consultative Committee (MCCC).

Our new members join our three ongoing MCCC members, Benn Thexton, Kate Lamb and Brad White, and will be mentored and supported in their new advisory role.

The MCCC is a committee of Southern Rural Water’s customers designed to provide an open forum that allows us to work together on strategic matters relevant to customers in the Macalister Irrigation District.

Southern Rural Water Manager Water Supply, Matt Cook said he was delighted by the number of applications received as part of the expression of interest process.

“We were spoilt for choice with high-quality applications and working through them to find the best new members was a real joy,” he said.

“I’m excited because our new members bring a wealth of experience across the dairy, horticultural and beef sectors, industry expertise and entrepreneurial spirit that represents the diversity of agricultural customers we serve and will support us to make decisions which the service the community well,” he said.

Matt Cook said he would like to thank retiring members of the MCCC for the service they have provided Southern Rural Water.

“I would like to acknowledge the time, effort and advice Graeme Anderson, Alan Clyne, Jeanette Howie, Steve Dwyer and Norm Drew have given us over many years,” he said.

“We’ve achieved a lot together that has helped drive positive change for the region’s irrigators and I’d like to thank you for working with us.”

The new committee’s first meeting will take place in February 2024. Committee meetings are held four times each year at key times in the irrigation season, with additional meetings as required.

Applications to become an MCCC member were open to eligible customers in the Macalister Irrigation District and river diverters on the Thomson and Macalister Rivers and Rainbow Creek.
