Important details about new water shares are on the way to irrigators in the Macalister Irrigation District. Southern Rural Water is sending out letters to eligible irrigators in the next fortnight, offering them a distribution of water shares. The shares were created through water savings from recent modernisation works. The forms need to be signed and returned, for SRW to activate the shares.
For Southern Rural Water, this marks the delivery of an important commitment to the irrigators in the MID who have contributed to the modernisation project costs. There have been three years of auctions and shelf-price sales, and SRW is now able to distribute water shares to eligible customers, who will receive a letter in the coming fortnight.
The distribution is available only for those irrigation customers who hold both a Delivery Share and Water-Use Licence in the Macalister Irrigation District, as they have contributed towards the project costs. The number of shares offered is based on a proportion of delivery share.
