Southern Rural Water is gearing up for its annual Rusty Shovel Charity Golf Day on Friday 6 June at the Maffra Golf Club.
Organiser Col Merlo is encouraging all district irrigators and businesses to dust off their golf clubs in aid of the Maffra SES.
Over the years, the day has raised thousands of dollars for various local charities.
Col said the day is a great networking event for those involved in the Macalister Irrigation District – farmers, suppliers and service staff. There are a number of sponsorship packages available for local businesses.
“It’s a fun day out, a good chance to network with people, and a great opportunity to support a good cause,” he said.
“You don’t need to have any experience at playing golf and you don’t need a partner.”
The day is being played as a two ball Ambrose competition with a shotgun start at 9.30am. A light breakfast is available from 8.30am and teams will play 18 holes followed by lunch and presentations, finishing up around 3 to 3.30pm.
The cost of $30 per head includes lunch provided by the Maffra Golf Club, and a door prize raffle.
For entry forms or more information, contact Col Merlo or Sarah Boyd on 1300 139 510 or call into the Southern Rural Water office at 88 Johnson Street, Maffra.
