Southern Rural Water’s incident team has been closely monitoring the rainfall across the catchment and into the Eastern storages throughout Friday and Saturday.
At the midnight review, Lake Glenmaggie had more than 22,400 ML (megalitres) available airspace. With the rain continuing, SRW has progressively increased releases from 700ML per day at 3pm to 3,450ML per day at midnight. At this point, the calculated inflow to the storage was 18,715 ML per day.
SRW is using the available airspace in the dam to mitigate flooding to the best extent possible, and minimise the impact on downstream communities.
There have been no significant rises in the upstream gauges on the Latrobe River above Lake Narracan, and releases were approximately 1,300ML per day.
Upstream flows in the Thomson River above Cowwarr Weir have risen to just over 1,000ML per day and outflows are at 1,000ML per day.
