Southern Rural Water Chairman, Diane James AM has announced the appointment of Cameron FitzGerald as the organisation’s new Managing Director, commencing in February.
Mr FitzGerald has had an extensive career in the water industry, including leadership roles for the past 14 years in urban water organisations, and is the current General Manager Strategy and Planning at City West Water.
“From a very strong field of candidates, Cameron stood out as having a vision and focus that closely matches our corporate strategic objectives at SRW,” she said. Mr FitzGerald’s new area of responsibility as SRW’s MD covers rural and groundwater across 88,000 km2 (or 37 per cent) of southern Victoria from the South Australian border to the New South Wales border, and from the mountains to the coast.
Among his many career achievements, Mr FitzGerald developed a comprehensive long-term water resources strategy for Melbourne in a partnership between urban water businesses, led major commercial transformation projects and has a strong focus on customer value and stakeholder engagement.
He lives on the outskirts of Melbourne and will be based at the Ringwood office, with regular visits to SRW’s other offices. “I’m keen to spend time in each of our regions, getting to know staff and customers across all areas of our business,” he said.
Mr FitzGerald said he was impressed by what SRW is already achieving, and is looking forward to exploring new opportunities with the team. “SRW is an incredibly diverse organisation, and it’s in the middle of an exciting time of development and transformation. I’m looking forward to a really enjoyable and productive 2019 with the SRW team,” he said.
