The Macalister Irrigation District modernisation program has been chosen as a finalist in the Customer Experience category of the Australian Water Association national awards, sponsored by Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA). Southern Rural Water‘s $160m MID2030 Modernisation program is transforming the 100-year-old MID, delivering water savings, environmental benefits and unlocking the value for customers to invest in on-farm efficiencies. Funded by SRW, State and Federal Governments, MID2030 is increasing productivity in a region that contributes $500m to the economy.
Managing Director Cameron FitzGerald said: “We can’t achieve outcomes like this alone.” Throughout the MID2030 program, SRW has built a unique partnership with customers, the Victorian Government, Australian Government, Agriculture Victoria, West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority and contractors to ensure we meet the project’s objectives.
We join finalists including fellow Victorian water corporations Barwon Water and Yarra Valley Water in the same category. The winner will be announced at the OzWater’21 conference in Adelaide on 4-6 May.
