Southern Rural Water will host a free family fun day and concert to celebrate 100 years since work to build Lake Glenmaggie commenced in 1919.
The event will run from 12 midday to 4pm on Sunday 8 December 2019 at the Glenmaggie Weir wall reserve on Weir Rd.
Attractions on the day will include a concert by popular songwriter Michael Waugh, featuring songs from his 2019 album “The Weir”, and other local musicians.
There will also be a jumping castle, food trucks, a milkshake van and a display of historic photos documenting construction of the weir wall.
You will be invited to record your memories of the weir and share photos and stories for further celebrations.
Glenmaggie Weir has brought many benefits to the local district. Its primary purpose is to supply irrigation to the Macalister Irrigation District but the Lake is also an iconic holiday destination and recreation facility.
The family fun day and picnic concert on 8 December will be the first celebration to commemorate the construction milestones.
