*** UPDATE: 6 June: submissions on this application have now closed ***
Submissions have been received on an application to vary an existing licence in Scotsburn to extract groundwater to be used for bottling water.
The owner of a property on Yuulong Road, Scotsburn, has applied to Southern Rural Water (SRW) for approval to change the use of 113 megalitres (ML) of their existing licence from irrigation to commercial purposes for water bottling.
The public consultation process included a 28-day period for stakeholders and interested parties to make submissions, which began on 9 May with advertisements in local media (Ballarat Courier) and closed on Saturday 6 June.
The application was referred to stakeholders such as Moorabool Shire, DELWP, Corangamite CMA, Central Highlands Water, Aboriginal Affairs and VicRoads. The applicant notified neighbours of the application.
SRW may also decide to hold an application hearing as part of the assessment process, which provides those who have lodged a submission an opportunity to speak to their submission.
On completion of the assessment process, SRW provides notice of the decision and statement of reasons to interested parties, who have a right of appeal.
