| Southern Rural Water is inviting nominations for its inaugural Waterwise Awards from savvy farmers.
The awards are open to all Southern Rural Water licence holders, and seek to recognise good work on properties in water savings and efficiency.
Four awards of $2000 each will be presented, covering the areas of groundwater, rivers/creeks, and irrigation districts.
A separate award, also $2000, will recognise outstanding research (academic or technology-based) in ground or surface water management that benefits licence holders.
“Southern Rural Water is keen to recognise and celebrate those of our licence holders who are doing great things with water,” said Managing Director Clinton Rodda. “We know there are many landowners at the forefront of innovation in water use – we want the rest of the world to know what they are doing.”
Judging criteria include new and innovative methods or use of technology, a demonstrated tangible benefit such as reduced water volume or increased productivity, and capacity for wider adoption.
Nominees must submit an entry form, plus an accompanying one page submission summarising the reasons for the nomination.
For entry forms and more information, visit www.srw.com.au, any Southern Rural Water office, or call 1300 139 510.
Nominations close on Monday, 30 August.
