| Southern Rural Water’s Board paid a two-day visit to Warrnambool recently.
The Board’s schedule included dinner with Board members and senior staff from Wannon Water, a breakfast with customers and stakeholders, and a Board meeting.
“Southern Rural Water’s Board plans meetings in different areas throughout the year, so that we have a chance to meet local customers and stakeholders, and discuss local issues,” said Board Chairperson Jan Greig.
“We consider it a valuable opportunity to get out and about, meet with locals and hear about their issues.”
Southern Rural Water’s General Manager Strategic and Technical, Graham Hawke, gave a presentation to the Wannon Water group on the ground-breaking Southern Groundwater Futures project. Wannon Water Managing Director Grant Green presented on Wannon Water’s draft response to the Western Sustainable Water Strategy draft.
The breakfast with customers and stakeholders was hosted by Southern Rural Water’s Manager Applications – West, Mick Fennessy. Topics of discussion included sustainable water use, communicating to broader communities about farmers’ responsible use of water, and associated issues such as food security.
The Board also took the opportunity to meet with Southern Rural Water’s Warrnambool office staff.
