| Southern Rural Water is inviting nominations for its inaugural Waterwise Awards.
The awards are open to all Southern Rural Water licence holders (subject to some conditions), and seek to recognise good work on properties in water savings and efficiency. | |
| Award categories | | Four awards of $2000 each will be presented, covering the areas of: | |
 | groundwater |  | rivers/creeks, and |  | irrigation districts (Macalister, Bacchus Marsh, Werribee) |
|
|
| A separate award, also $2000, will recognise outstanding research (academic or technology-based) in ground or surface water management that benefits licence holders. | |
| Judging criteria | | The awards will be judged on the following criteria: | |
 | New and innovative methods or use of technology |  | Demonstration of a tangible benefit – reduced water volume, savings, increased productivity or combination thereof, return on investment |  | Capacity for wider adoption |

| How to enter | | Nominees must submit an entry form (see below), plus an accompanying one page submission summarising the reasons for the nomination.
Nominations close on Monday, 30 August. | |
| Eligibility | | Nominations are open to anyone who holds a licence from SRW to take and use water, or their family, other than: | |
 | Employees of Southern Rural Water, and their families |  | Liccence holders who have been prosecuted by Southern Rural Water, or issued with a warning letter |  | Members of Southern Rural Water's customer consultative committees (including the Southern Groundwater and Rivers Forum), and their families |

| Recognition | | Awardees will be publicly recognised via media articles, and a presentation lunch during Water Week (October 2010). | |
